How many of you send out a “Thank You” card to each client??
Its simple.
Its cheap.
Don’t only send them to clients who have spent money, send them to prospects who MIGHT do business with you. Thank them for their time and consideration.
Writing a “Thank You” shows you care! Not ONCE in the past five years has ONE person sent me a “Thank You” note. Not my pest control service, plumber, wood floor salesperson (that was a $25,000 transaction), car salesman (neither Honda nor Acura), cleaning service, mechanic, … Not one! I don’t remember ONE of their names either!
“Thank You” cards make a big impact on clients. Plus, its simple to do!. Its personal & its meaningful because its not done over the internet! (Sure the internet is cheap, but you get what you pay for.)
Good ole fashion courtesies like a handshake and a sincere “Thank You” while looking into your clients eyes is now a competitive advantage. Mailing a “Thank You” card makes you exceptional! Its creates a warm connection like nothing else.
Sure you can email a “Thank You” Card but nothing, and I mean nothing, beats getting one in the mail EXCEPT one with a picture of their daughter on the front from the photo session. No wait, lets up the impact, what if they received “Thank You” card with a picture of their daughter AND they got four delicious gourmet brownies delivered by UPS! How is that for style & impact. EVERY client of mine gets this treatment. See how I do it Right Here.
Send the “Thank You” cards that day. This way, you don’t have to start your sentence with, “I’m so sorry this took so long…”
How to Write a “Thank You Card”:
- Open with a “Thank You”
- Elaborate why you are thanking them
- Wrap it up with a “Thank You”
Example: “Emily, thanks so much for coming in today. Little Sydney was a pure joy and delight to work with. I can’t wait to share with you all the amazing pictures. Thanks again.”

So you usually send them a thank you card with brownies, almost right after their photo session? Do you stop there? Or say, a few months down the road, you send something else? And do you switch it up as to what you send a repeat client..say a ‘thank you card with brownies’ the first time….’thank you card and chocolate covered pretzels’ the second time? And it changes each time or no? Thanks!
@ Judy
Yes, switch it up with future contacts.
I will also switch it up with referrals gifts I send!
